We really love colorful ethnic weddings as it gives us the perfect opportunity to capture how different cultures celebrate love. This time we had the pleasure of being part of Ruchi and Tushar’s traditional Hindu wedding at Hilton Lac Leamy. It was two days of non-stop colorful celebrations from the pre-ceremony Puja prayers, Baraat, Milni, and the fire ceremony to Bollywood-style performances and partying.
Congrats Ruchi and Tushar! It was great to be part of your big day. Also a shout-out to one of our favorite MUAs, Seema Haider, for her beautiful work.
Here’s a peek at a few favorites from this beautiful wedding…
Tushar’s family dancing during the Baraat procession toward the ceremony hall where they would be greeted by bride’s family for the Milni ceremony.
Here Tushar is being greeted by bride’s sister and other bridesmaids for the ribbon cutting ceremony. He would have to negotiate for right of passage and offer a gift to be allowed to cut the ribbon and pass.
Ruchi and Tushar during the Saptapadi ritual where they took seven steps around sacred fire while tied together by a shawl, symbolizing seven blessings of married life.
A fun part of Hindu weddings is the shoe stealing where just before the ceremony, the sisters-in-law of the groom steal his shoes as he takes them off. After the ceremony groom traditionally needs to leave in the same shoes so he will have to negotiate and get them back (after offering a gift). Great opportunity for some fun candid photos
And finally the emotional Vidaai ceremony where bride’s parents symbolically say goodbye to her as they send her away.
A few photos from next day’s beautifully-decorated reception at Hilton Lac Leamy which involved multiple bollywood-style performances and lots of partying!
